This pre-market brief is based on 13 August 2026 closing prices, captured at 08:00 AM IST on Friday, 14 August 2026.

Indian equities saw a mixed close on Thursday, with the Nifty 50 and Nifty Bank recording minor declines, while the NIFTY Midcap 100 showed resilience with a positive close. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their strong buying streak, significantly outweighing Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) outflows for the second consecutive session.

NIFTY Midcap 100 64121.55 +0.15%

FII and DII Activity

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers for the second consecutive session on 13 August, offloading equities worth ₹510.69 crore. This follows a larger outflow of ₹1002.5 crore on 12 August. Conversely, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) remained robust net buyers, injecting ₹4353.09 crore into the market on 13 August. This strong DII support has been a consistent theme, with DIIs also buying ₹5841.66 crore on 12 August and ₹24.77 crore on 11 August, marking three consecutive sessions of net buying.

Over the last five sessions, FII activity has been mixed, with net buying on 11 August (₹258.55 crore), 10 August (₹1974.76 crore), and 7 August (₹480.24 crore). However, the recent two-day selling trend from FIIs, coupled with persistent DII buying, suggests a shift in institutional flow dynamics.
