India Software Exports Rise 8.2% to $221B: RBI Survey

India’s software services exports grew 8.2% to $221.4 billion in 2025-26, driven by computer services and private firms, according to the RBI survey.
India’s software services exports rose by 8.2 percent year-on-year during 2025-26 to reach $221.4 billion, according to the latest Reserve Bank of India survey. The findings come from the central bank survey titled ‘Computer software and information technology enabled services exports: 2025-26’.
Breaking Down The Growth And Key Numbers
The survey measures computer services and information technology enabled services exports, excluding sales through overseas commercial presence. Several key metrics define the performance during the financial year:
Total software export services including foreign affiliates rose 9.5 percent to $239.3 billion. Computer services accounted for over two-thirds of total software services exports. BPO services remained the dominant component of IT enabled services exports. Private limited companies drove the sector with 9.3 percent growth. Local software business by foreign affiliates of Indian companies increased to $17.9 billion from $13.9 billion previously.
Destinations And Invoicing Currencies
The geographic distribution and billing methods highlight where the demand originates. Off-site delivery remained the primary mode of supply.
The United States of America was the major software exports destination with a share of 54.1 percent. European countries captured a 31.8 percent share, with the United Kingdom holding a major portion within Europe. The United States and the United Kingdom also remained the major destinations for local software business by foreign affiliates. Software services were primarily delivered through the off-site mode, capturing a 91.7 percent share. The US dollar served as the principal invoicing currency, followed by the euro, the rupee, and the pound sterling.
The data demonstrates the ongoing resilience and delivery structure of India’s software export sector across major global markets.
