Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called upon the Reserve Bank of India to accelerate the development and functionality of the Central Bank Digital Currency, known as the digital rupee. During recent discussions, the Minister emphasized that global financial systems are undergoing rapid changes driven by tokenisation and the emergence of agentic AI.
