SML Mahindra July Sales Surge: Commercial Vehicles Up 10%, Exports Soar 74%
By Business Desk
SML Mahindra Ltd. reports strong July sales with a 10% rise in commercial vehicles and a remarkable 74% surge in exports, driven by strategic consolidation and increased production.
SML Mahindra Ltd. announced a significant uptick in its July performance, with commercial vehicle sales climbing 10% year-on-year. Exports saw an even more dramatic rise, jumping 74% compared to the previous year.
The company recorded 1,521 commercial vehicle units sold in July, up from 1,380 units in the prior year. Production also increased by 11% year-on-year, reaching 1,458 units from 1,311 units.
Total vehicle sales, encompassing both passenger and cargo segments, grew by 12% year-on-year to 1,603 units. Passenger vehicle sales specifically expanded by 21% to 1,186 units for the month.
Conversely, cargo vehicle volumes experienced a 7% decline, settling at 417 units in July. Export figures highlighted strong international demand, with 82 units shipped compared to 47 units a year earlier.
Strategic Consolidation Drives Future Outlook
This positive sales momentum follows a major strategic announcement by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in July 2026. The parent company revealed plans to transfer its Truck and Bus Division to SML Mahindra Ltd. for Rs 525 crore.
The restructuring aims to consolidate Mahindra’s commercial vehicle business under a single listed entity. This integration will cover light, intermediate, and heavy trucks, alongside buses.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s acquisition of a 58.97% stake in SML Mahindra in August 2025 set the stage for this move. Regulatory approvals are still pending, with the transaction anticipated to close by January 31, 2027.
The strategic alignment is designed to enhance scale and expand market reach for the combined entity. Furthermore, it is expected to strengthen the product portfolio and improve overall operational efficiency.
