Indian markets are set to react to a wave of corporate disclosures today, August 3, as several prominent companies announced their June-quarter earnings. Key players such as Maruti Suzuki India, ITC, and Indian Oil Corporation lead the list, alongside significant monthly auto sales figures and other corporate developments.
Key Q1 Earnings Reports
Maruti Suzuki India reported a 10.8% decrease in profit, settling at Rs 3,352.1 crore for the quarter. This came despite a robust 35.9% surge in revenue to Rs 52,455.7 crore, with July sales jumping 33.7% driven by strong domestic demand.
ITC saw its quarterly profit decline by 27.1% to Rs 3,578.8 crore. The company’s revenue, excluding excise duty, also decreased by 14.4% to Rs 16,907.6 crore.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) recorded a net loss of Rs 2,661.3 crore, marking a reversal from the profit posted in the same period last year. This occurred even as its revenue increased by 36% to Rs 2.62 lakh crore.
National Aluminium Company (NALCO) nearly doubled its Q1 profit, rising by 90.9% to Rs 2,003.1 crore. The company’s revenue also saw a significant increase of 39.3%, reaching Rs 5,302.4 crore.
Concord Biotech reported healthy earnings growth, with a 32.8% rise in quarterly profit to Rs 58.5 crore and revenue up 26.2% to Rs 257.5 crore. Urban Company, however, returned to a loss of Rs 92.12 crore, despite a 43.9% revenue increase to Rs 528.3 crore driven by business expansion.
Auto Sector Sales Surge
The auto sector demonstrated strong performance in July. Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle sales jumped 37%, while its passenger vehicle sales climbed 59%. Electric vehicle sales more than doubled for the company.
Hyundai Motor India’s July sales rose 25.4%, achieving its highest monthly exports in over 100 months. Mahindra & Mahindra also reported a strong month, with total automotive sales increasing by 25.8% in July.
Eicher Motors’ Royal Enfield brand experienced a 34% rise in July sales, reflecting robust demand in the two-wheeler segment.
Key Corporate Developments
HFCL secured export orders valued at approximately Rs 522.7 crore for optical fibre cables. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment is evaluating its legal options following a two-month ban from the securities market imposed by SEBI.
Lodha Developers announced plans to monetize 150 acres of its Mumbai-region data centre park, aiming to generate nearly Rs 10,000 crore from the initiative.
Tata Steel confirmed its UK electric arc furnace project remains on schedule for electricity access by 2029. Separately, Vodafone Idea received a Rs 26.83 crore demand notice from the Department of Telecommunications.
Coal India’s July production increased by 8.4%, indicating steady operational performance. Zydus Lifesciences received a favorable USFDA inspection report for its Ahmedabad facility, a positive regulatory update.
Container Corporation of India announced the appointment of Ajit Kumar Panda as its new Chairman and Managing Director, a significant leadership change.
