Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) has increased Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Delhi and surrounding areas by Rs 3.89 per kg, effective from 6 am on Saturday. This adjustment pushes Delhi’s retail CNG price to Rs 83.09 per kg from its previous Rs 77.09 per kg.

IGL attributed this revision to a significant rise in input gas costs, primarily driven by the increased prices of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG). Global spot and current-market LNG prices have nearly doubled since the onset of the West Asia conflict.
Global Market Pressures
- The West Asia conflict disrupted LNG cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz.
- Increased European demand ahead of the winter season further pressured international gas prices.
- The European TTF gas benchmark rose by about 105%.
- The Asian JKM LNG benchmark increased by approximately 113%.
Despite these sharp international increases, IGL emphasized that Indian consumers have been largely shielded from the full impact. This protection comes through strategic sourcing and calibrated price adjustments, as the country increasingly relies on imported spot LNG to meet growing demand.
