Stocking Up for Festive Celebrations
India’s major automotive manufacturers are proactively building up manufacturing output and bolstering dealer inventories to capitalize on peak festive buying. This push coincides with major observances including Navratri, Dussehra, Dhanteras, and Diwali to successfully turn heavy booking volumes into final retail sales.
Here are the key figures from top industry players preparing for the festive rush:
Maruti Suzuki: The market leader holds 2.2 lakh pending bookings, with inventory shifting from 12 days at the start of the financial year to 16 days of stock ahead of the festivities. The company commissioned two new production lines adding 5 lakh units of capacity.
Hyundai Motor India: The company has built up dealer inventory ranging between four to five weeks to ensure smooth customer experiences and timely deliveries.
Mahindra & Mahindra: Scaled up its SUV and EV manufacturing capacity to 68,000 units per month during the first half of the year to improve supply responsiveness and reduce waiting periods.
Industry leaders emphasize that this strategic preparation is essential for converting strong consumer sentiment into actual retail sales, aiming for a successful festive season across the board.
