The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) initiated the closure of 16 metro stations starting at 7:30 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026. This decision was made in response to significant security concerns arising from ongoing student-led protests in central Delhi.

These demonstrations, spearheaded by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, are centered on alleged irregularities within the Neet examination. Protesters are also demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

These increased deployments aim to maintain law and order in sensitive areas. Services at the affected stations had previously been restored on Wednesday evening before the renewed closures.
