FII / DII Flows
On Monday, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned net buyers, injecting ₹1181.66 crore into the Indian equity market. This marks a notable change from the previous two sessions, where FIIs had recorded net outflows of −₹542.71 crore on August 21 and −₹583.36 crore on August 20. Over the last five trading sessions, FII activity has been mixed, with significant inflows of ₹1651.53 crore on August 18 and ₹407.99 crore on August 19, alongside the recent outflows. This fluctuating pattern suggests cautious but intermittent interest from foreign investors.
In contrast, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) maintained their consistent buying momentum, registering net purchases of ₹2493.41 crore on Monday. DIIs have been net buyers for all of the last five sessions, with substantial inflows of ₹2124.14 crore, ₹3537.71 crore, ₹3973.72 crore, and ₹2579.31 crore recorded on August 21, 20, 19, and 18 respectively. This sustained domestic support continues to provide a crucial counterbalance to foreign flows.
What to Watch at 9:15
Given the mixed close on Monday, with Nifty 50 showing slight weakness but FIIs returning as net buyers and midcaps outperforming, traders will be closely monitoring global cues and early trade volumes for direction at the 9:15 AM open.
