The Indian equity markets closed Tuesday’s session on a positive note, with the Nifty 50 advancing by +116 points, or +0.48%, to settle at 24334.55. The broader NIFTY Midcap 100 index showed even stronger performance, gaining +0.54%. In contrast, the Nifty Bank index saw a marginal dip of −0.02%, closing at 57514.20.

FII and DII Flows

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned net buyers on 25 August 2026, injecting ₹1593.53 crore into the Indian markets. This marks a shift after two consecutive sessions of net selling on 20 and 21 August. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their consistent buying spree, adding ₹230.26 crore on Tuesday. Over the last five sessions, DIIs have been net buyers, demonstrating sustained domestic support, with their highest inflow being ₹3973.72 crore on 19 August.

Top Movers

Among the Nifty 50 constituents, Adani Enterprises Ltd. (ADANIENT) emerged as the top gainer, closing at ₹3110 with a +3.72% increase. Other significant gainers included Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (MAXHEALTH) at ₹1016, up +2.57%, and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (APOLLOHOSP), which rose +2.15% to ₹8889. Interglobe Aviation Ltd. (INDIGO) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) also posted strong gains of +2.01% and +1.99% respectively.

On the downside, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (HDFCLIFE) was the top loser, declining −1.13% to ₹546.7. Cipla Ltd. (CIPLA) fell −1.11%, closing at ₹1422. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HEROMOTOCO) also saw declines of −1.08% and −1.06% respectively. Coal India Ltd. (COALINDIA) rounded out the top five losers with a −0.71% drop.
