The Indian equity markets commenced Thursday’s trading session on a strong note, with the Nifty 50 opening with a significant gap up. At 9:15 AM IST, the benchmark index stood at 24137.95, marking an advance of +116 points or +0.48% from its previous close of 24021.65.

Market breadth in the Nifty 50 at the very start of trade showed no advances or declines, indicating a cautious initial phase as participants assess the opening momentum.
Among the top performers in early trade, Trent Ltd. (TRENT) led the pack, trading at ₹3256, up +0.28%. Eternal Ltd. (ETERNAL) followed, gaining +0.21% to ₹256.9. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (BAJAJFINSV) also saw an early uptick, rising +0.21% to ₹1784.3. JSW Steel Ltd. (JSWSTEEL) was up +0.20% at ₹1233.7, and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (KOTAKBANK) traded +0.14% higher at ₹406.5.
Conversely, some constituents experienced early pressure. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MARUTI) was down −0.29% at ₹13209. Titan Company Ltd. (TITAN) saw a decline of −0.20%, trading at ₹4315. Shriram Finance Ltd. (SHRIRAMFIN) fell −0.20% to ₹1017, while Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (TATACONSUM) was down −0.19% at ₹1096. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (ADANIPORTS) also registered a −0.19% dip to ₹1809.9.
In the FII and DII activity, provisional data for June 24 shows Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers, offloading equities worth −1843.4 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), however, provided strong support, with net purchases amounting to +3637.26 crore. On June 23, FIIs were net buyers with +17.86 crore, while DIIs bought +680.21 crore.
Investors will closely monitor the sustainability of this early momentum and the evolution of market breadth in the initial 30 minutes of trade.
