Institutional flow data from the past two sessions provides critical context for today’s open. On August 12, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) recorded net selling of −1002.5 crore. This outflow, however, was significantly absorbed by robust buying from Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), who injected a substantial +5841.66 crore into the market. This strong DII support played a pivotal role in cushioning any potential downside from FII selling.

The session prior, August 11, saw a more balanced institutional picture. FIIs were net buyers, adding +258.55 crore, while DIIs also registered net purchases of +24.77 crore. The consistent and significant buying activity from DIIs, particularly the substantial inflow on August 12, underscores domestic confidence and continues to be a primary driver of market stability and upward momentum at the open.

With the Nifty 50 opening in positive territory, market participants will closely monitor the initial price action for signs of sustained buying interest or any indications of profit-booking. The next 30 minutes will be crucial in establishing the day’s trend and assessing the strength of the current positive sentiment.
