Indian equity benchmarks continued their upward trajectory for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, buoyed by robust domestic institutional buying and easing crude oil prices. The Nifty 50 closed above the 24,000 mark, with broader markets also seeing positive momentum.

Institutional Flows

Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) provided significant support to the market, recording a net inflow of ₹1,561.40 crore on Wednesday. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) also turned net buyers, with a modest inflow of ₹101.59 crore. Over the last three sessions, FIIs have shown mixed activity in equities but have been consistent net buyers in the debt market.

Inflation Update

May 2026 saw India’s wholesale price index (WPI) inflation reach 9.68% under the new 2022-23 base year, driven by higher food and fuel prices.
