KreditBee: India’s New Fintech Unicorn After $280M Raise

Key Highlights

KreditBee achieves unicorn status with a $280M Series E round, highlighting strong investor confidence in India’s growing fintech lending market. Valued at $1.5 billion.

Bangalore-based fintech startup KreditBee has joined India’s unicorn club after raising $280 million in a Series E funding round. The round values the lending platform at $1.5 billion, making it the second unicorn of 2026 following Juspay.

The funding round, which was oversubscribed with 3x investor interest, comes amid a capital squeeze in India’s startup ecosystem. According to Inc42’s Q1 report, total startup funding declined 26% to $2.3 billion in Q1 2026.

Founded in 2016 by Madhusudan E, Karthikeyan K, and Vivek Veda, KreditBee focuses on providing instant, small-ticket credit to underserved and new-to-credit users through a fully digital platform. The company secured an NBFC license under KrazeBeee Services in 2017 and officially launched in April 2018.

KreditBee initially targeted students but shifted towards salaried individuals beyond tier I and II cities. Today, this segment contributes nearly 70% of its user base. The platform disburses approximately 30,000 loans daily, having served 18 million unique customers to date with a cumulative disbursement of 60 million loans. Its product suite includes personal loans, business loans, loans against property, and two-wheeler loans, with an average ticket size of ₹60,000.

The company reports that nearly 90% of its portfolio is unsecured lending. KreditBee aggregates data from around 150 sources to build borrower profiles, feeding this data into AI and machine learning models to determine credit behavior and repayment likelihood. The company handled around 7 million customer interactions with AI-assisted systems in FY26.

KreditBee is preparing for a public listing, potentially by the end of 2026 or early 2027, with plans to raise up to ₹1,000 crore through a fresh issue and an offer-for-sale () component. The company also aims to become a small finance bank in the next five years.
