Jio Finance Platform and Service Limited launched JioSilver, a digital platform enabling users to invest in 99.9% pure physical-backed silver directly inside the JioFinance app. The platform opens access to precious metal investments with entry-level transactions starting at ₹10 and scaling up to ₹1 lakh per transaction.

Key Platform Specifications

  • ₹10 Entry: Minimum transaction amount for digital silver purchases.
  • SIP Options: Users can set up recurring Systematic Investment Plans weekly or monthly.
  • Physical Delivery: Holdings can be redeemed for doorstep physical delivery of certified silver coins.
  • NABL Verification: All physical silver backing the digital units is verified at NABL-accredited laboratories.

Surbhe S Sharma, CEO of JFPSL, stated that the initiative is intended to provide a transparent, safe, and hassle-free digital asset that helps investors diversify portfolios without storage hassles. Trading occurs at live, market-linked prices with sale proceeds deposited directly into the user’s bank account.

The Broader Market Shift

  • 1,045 Lakh SIP Accounts: Total active SIP accounts recorded in 2025-26, rising from 1,005 lakh the previous year.
  • ₹73.7 Lakh Crore AUM: Mutual fund industry assets under management as of March 2026, doubling from March 2021.
  • 6.1 Crore Investors: Unique mutual fund investors reached during the 2025-26 period, representing a 13.2% year-on-year growth.
  • ₹15.1 Lakh Crore: Total assets accumulated via Systematic Investment Plans.

The step-up SIP strategy allows investors to periodically increase mutual fund contribution amounts, aligning investment growth with income hikes to compound returns and manage inflation. Data shows that 55% of unique investors are located in Tier III cities, reflecting expanding digital access across smaller centers.

As digital access expands, market regulators balance inclusion with risk monitoring, noting that stress tests reveal certain small-cap schemes may require considerable time to liquidate during heavy redemption pressure.
