Mumbai Local Train Schedule Revised by Western Railway from Sept 1

Western Railway has implemented a revised timetable for Mumbai suburban trains, effective September 1, 2026. These changes aim to enhance punctuality, address passenger demand, and alleviate congestion.

Key Service Adjustments

The overall number of suburban services remains constant at 1,414. However, the new schedule introduces six new local services while simultaneously withdrawing six existing ones. This strategic adjustment seeks to optimize the current operational capacity.

• The number of weekday AC local services has increased from 145 to 147.
• Six new local services have been introduced, alongside the withdrawal of six existing services.
• Two regular services have been converted into AC locals, expanding air-conditioned travel options.

Addressing Congestion and Route Extensions

New routes include services between Bandra and Churchgate, as well as Virar and Borivali. To manage evening congestion specifically at Borivali station, certain AC and regular services will temporarily bypass this station.

• An alternative AC local service has been provided for passengers affected by the temporary skipping of Borivali.
• The Virar-Dadar service has been extended, now operating all the way to Churchgate.
• Services between Dadar-Virar and Virar-Dahanu Road have been merged, streamlining operations on these corridors.

These adjustments are designed to optimize existing capacity across the Western Railway network. Passengers are advised to verify the updated timings and routes before commencing their journeys to ensure smooth travel.
