Key Highlights

VGU Jaipur students are building innovative startups in agritech, services, and heritage brands, leveraging Rajasthan’s unique strengths for national and global markets.

VGU Student Founders Drive Innovation from Rajasthan

Student founders at Vivekananda Global University (VGU) in Jaipur are launching innovative startups, challenging the traditional metro-centric startup narrative by building ventures rooted in Rajasthan’s realities. These startups span agritech, service innovation, and heritage-led consumer brands, designed for larger markets. VGU’s ecosystem fosters local problem-solving with national and global market potential.

Octopyder Services: A National Credential from Tier II

Himanshu Harsh, a BTech graduate from VGU, founded Octopyder Services Private Limited, a DPIIT-recognized venture. The company addresses service delivery inefficiencies, a common friction point in non-metro cities. Octopyder’s concept was refined through VGU’s internal innovation ecosystem, including Code Red competitions, IIC engagement, and ACIC-VGU mentorship.

The startup achieved significant accolades, securing first position at Shark Tank JNU and first runner-up at the DOIT&C and TiE Rajasthan AI Hackathon. It also placed in the top three at MeitY’s TIDE 2.0 Hackathon at IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, competing against teams nationwide. Octopyder further secured a Rs 1 lakh grant and placement in a national cohort of promising early-stage ventures at the Startup Maharathi Challenge during Startup Mahakumbh.

CropSync: Agritech Innovation for Rajasthan’s Realities

Dhanunjay Reddy, a BSc Agri-Business Management student at VGU, founded CropSync, a DPIIT-recognized agritech startup. CropSync focuses on Rajasthan’s challenging agricultural conditions, characterized by aridity, water scarcity, and extreme temperatures. The startup developed an automated crop monitoring and adaptive growth management system tailored for Rajasthani farmers.

CropSync reached the semi-finals of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, a globally recognized student entrepreneurship competition. It also won first position at the Google Cloud Digital Campus 2.0 Hackathon, was shortlisted for a Rs 2 lakh grant at Sprint South Edition 2025, and secured iSTART Rajasthan funding in 2025-26.

Heritage-Led Ventures Tap Global Markets

Gaurav Madhusudan Sharma, a BA LLB student, founded Snigdha Satva Private Limited, a natural fragrance company. This venture draws from Rajasthan’s centuries-old attar and botanical traditions to create plant-based fragrances. The global wellness and natural fragrance market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by a consumer shift towards ethically sourced, plant-based alternatives.

Snigdha Satva capitalized on this trend, generating Rs 22,000 in sales in four hours at Udhyami Bazaar during the IIC Regional Meet 2025. This marked the highest single-event revenue recorded among all student ventures present that day. The success demonstrated strong consumer demand for heritage-led products.

Kunal Palaria, a BSc Agriculture student, developed Mahndi Wala Herbal, focusing on Rajasthan’s globally recognized henna craft tradition. This venture aims to capture a larger share of the value chain for farmers and artisans, blending agricultural science with herbal product development and direct-to-market strategies. Mahndi Wala Herbal generated Rs 8,500 in sales in four hours at the same Udhyami Bazaar event, contributing to a combined Rs 30,500 for both heritage startups.

VGU’s Model Fosters Local Roots, Global Reach

VGU supports 69 DPIIT-recognized student startups, consistently producing ventures rooted in Rajasthan’s unique agriculture, crafts, service gaps, and cultural heritage. These founders perceive Rajasthan not as a limitation but as a significant differentiator in their market approach. They are building towards markets that extend far beyond the region.

These startups follow a rigorous validation process, moving through internal competitions, external hackathons, prototype testing, and real market exposure before seeking formal funding channels. This deep validation stack precedes capital conversations, ensuring robust business models. VGU’s approach enables founders to build compelling track records, attracting ecosystem attention rather than needing to seek it in metro cities.
