This strategic move aims to limit China’s access to crucial resources essential for advanced AI development, a step Washington views as critical to preventing potential military or economic dominance.

The Geopolitical Push for AI Alignment

The US initiative, Pax Silica, was established last year with a clear mandate. It focuses on securing the supply chains necessary for developing AI models, alongside ensuring access to semiconductors and critical minerals.

China, for its part, has voiced strong opposition to what it terms the “politicization of technology.” Beijing argues that such actions ultimately impede the global progress of artificial intelligence.
