US-India Partnership: Karnataka is Key, Says Ambassador Gor

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, has declared that the “limitless potential” between the United States and India is significantly channeled through Karnataka. Speaking at Bengaluru’s ‘Quantum’ exhibition, Gor underscored the state’s pivotal role in this burgeoning bilateral relationship.

Deepening Economic Ties and Investment

Gor noted the expanding presence of over 1,000 American companies in Karnataka, alongside a growing interest from US firms in Indian partnerships and investments. This reflects a broader trend of strengthening economic engagement.

Strategic Supply Chains and Future Tech

A key strategic priority for Ambassador Gor includes India’s participation in Pax Silica, a US-led initiative launched in December 2025. This program aims to secure global supply chains for critical technologies.

• India was among the first 10 countries invited to join this vital initiative.

Gor also engaged with representatives from major American corporations such as Meta, Rolls-Royce, and Netflix, indicating widespread sector interest. This diverse engagement spans technology, manufacturing, and entertainment.

Karnataka’s Quantum Leap and Diplomatic Push

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar reiterated the state’s dedication to developing a quantum technology ecosystem, involving government, academia, and industry. He announced plans for a dedicated Quantum City at Hesaraghatta.

Shivakumar also formally requested a full-fledged US consulate in Bengaluru, promising to provide land and facilitate its establishment. This move signals a desire for deeper diplomatic and commercial ties.

Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw emphasized the profound impact of quantum science, stating its “transformative potential for future computing, sensing, and secure communications.”

The convergence of increasing American investment, strategic supply chain initiatives, and Karnataka’s proactive embrace of quantum technology underscores a robust and evolving partnership.
