Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) has committed to a substantial increase in nuclear fuel supply, directly supporting India’s national ambition to achieve 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047 under the ‘Vikshit Bharat’ vision. This strategic focus was announced by UCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Dr. K Anand Rao.

Dr. Rao revealed this commitment during the 80th Independence Day celebration at UCIL’s Jaduguda premises. The company’s efforts are centered on continuously enhancing its mining and processing capabilities to meet the projected demand for nuclear power generation.

  • Expanding existing uranium mines to increase output.
  • Increasing the capacity of the Tummalapalle plant, which involves setting up a new tailing pond for operational efficiency.
  • Reaching an agreement with Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) to extract and process uranium from HCL’s tailing pond.
  • Working to secure environmental clearances for the proposed Rohil project in Sikar district, Rajasthan.
  • Floating a tender for the Banduhurang opencast mine to boost production at the Jaduguda and Turamdih mills.
