Tata Power Commissions 190.5 MW Solar FDRE Project in Rajasthan

Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has announced the commissioning of its 190.5 MW Solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan.

This significant development forms part of the larger 460 MW FDRE Project under contractual capacity and was specifically developed under SJVN FDRE Tranche-1.

Project Scope and Energy Distribution

The newly operational solar facility is strategically positioned to provide crucial energy supply to multiple discoms across the region. These include the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), and Noida Power Company (NPCL).

The project represents a pivotal advancement in India’s pursuit of clean energy, integrating substantial solar generation with advanced energy storage and grid support systems. This setup ensures the delivery of reliable and dispatchable renewable power.

Overcoming Execution Challenges

TPREL showcased its engineering prowess and robust execution capabilities throughout the project’s development. The company successfully navigated several complex hurdles, including highly compressed project timelines.

Further challenges involved global supply chain disruptions that impacted the availability of essential components. These included transmission line materials, module mounting structures, and other critical equipment necessary for the project’s completion.

Expanding Renewable Capacity

With this latest commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has now reached 12.4 GW. The company maintains a strong operational portfolio alongside substantial projects under various implementation stages.

• Operational Capacity: 6.9 GW (includes 5.6 GW solar and 1.3 GW wind)
• Capacity Under Implementation: Approximately 5.5 GW
• Expected Commissioning Timeline: In phases over the next 24 months
