Agritech startup Agrizy has elevated Markish Arun, the former head of engineering and products, to the position of cofounder and chief technology officer (CTO).

Arun, now the third cofounder, will spearhead the Omnivore-backed agritech startup’s technology and AI roadmap. His responsibilities include expanding the company’s intelligence layer, scaling decision-support platforms as strategic intellectual property (IP), and engineering systems designed for global traceable supply chain solutions.

Arun initially joined Agrizy in 2022 as the head of engineering and product. Before that, he served as the CTO of the car rental company Zoomcar for almost three years.

Throughout his career spanning two and a half decades, Arun has also been an entrepreneur on three occasions, cofounding Dixsoft Business Solutions, magicrooms, Trip38, and Profit Business Solutions at various points. He has also been associated with companies such as Goibibo, Yatra, and SAP Labs.

Since joining Agrizy, Arun has been instrumental in building the company’s core product and engineering foundations. This includes developing an AI intelligence platform aimed at accelerating new product development and reducing the cost-to-market for global food and wellness brands. Additionally, he developed an AI-driven credit engine that has reduced internal evaluation time by 90%.

Founded in 2021 by Vicky Dodani and Saket Chirania, Agrizy identifies itself as a contract research, development, and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) for food and beverage and wellness brands worldwide. The company supports these brands by providing consistent inputs, flexible processing, and assured fulfillment, all backed by technology, traceability, and a network of processors.

The Bengaluru-based startup reports that it has partnered with over 350 global and domestic brands, exporting products to more than 20 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.

In August 2024, Agrizy secured $9.8 Mn in a Series A funding round from investors including Accion and Omnivore, with plans to expand into new products and regions. The company also intends to move into contract manufacturing and advisory services.

To date, the company has raised close to $20 Mn, with its cap table including Ankur Capital, Vivriti Capital, and Thai Wah Ventures, among others.
