Logistics firm Shiprocket’s shares surged over 9% after Goldman Sachs India Equity Portfolio acquired over 40 lakh units in a significant bulk deal.

Logistics solutions provider Shiprocket witnessed a significant share price surge of over 9% during Thursday’s trading session. This substantial upward movement was driven by a major bulk deal involving Goldman Sachs India Equity Portfolio.

The global investment firm executed the acquisition during Wednesday’s trading. Goldman Sachs purchased precisely 40,24,040 shares of Shiprocket at a weighted average price of Rs 131 apiece.

Key Transaction Metrics

  • Shares acquired: 40,24,040 units
  • Acquisition price: Rs 131 per share
  • Previous close (Wednesday): Rs 143.45
  • Early high on NSE (Thursday): Rs 156.90
  • Trading up (Thursday, intra-day): Nearly 5.6% at Rs 151.49

Notably, the acquisition price of Rs 131 per share was identical to the level at which Shiprocket shares made their debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This specific pricing point underscores a significant benchmark for the newly listed entity.

The stock’s initial climb on Thursday reached an early high of Rs 156.90 on the NSE. This represented a notable rise from its previous closing price of Rs 143.45, indicating strong market confidence post-deal.

While Shiprocket shares later pared some of these gains, they maintained a robust position. During Thursday’s session, the stock was still trading up by nearly 5.6% at approximately Rs 151.49.

This institutional buying activity holds particular significance for Shiprocket, a newly listed company. Investors are keenly observing the participation of major firms like Goldman Sachs, especially following the company’s recent market debut and its implications for future valuations.
