Key Highlights
Legaltech platform Register Karo, founded by CAs, achieves ₹100 Cr ARR. Expands company incorporation services across India and Dubai, helping thousands of businesses monthly.
RegisterKaro, a legaltech platform founded by three chartered accountants, has achieved an Annual Recurring (ARR) of Rs 100 crore. The company, which began operations from a two-bedroom apartment in Koramangala, Bengaluru, has expanded to incorporate over 2,500 companies monthly across India and Dubai.
The venture was initiated in April 2021 by Joel Lester D’Souza, Srihari R Dhondalay, and Sidharth Ravichandran during the second wave of COVID-19. They identified a significant gap in India’s compliance system, observing small business owners struggling with deadlines, delayed filings, and penalty notices, while first-time founders often lacked clarity on initial requirements.
Early Growth and Expansion
Initially, the founders focused on addressing the pain point of company incorporation. This included private limited company registration, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), and One Person Companies (OPCs), along with interactions with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
By September 2021, the trio established their first workspace in a Koramangala apartment. The team grew to 20 people by the end of 2021, with the founders directly managing client conversations. In October 2022, RegisterKaro moved into its first formal office in Indiranagar, marking a transition from a side project to a company generating Rs 20 lakh in revenue.
Co-founder Srihari R Dhondalay noted the initial operational model, stating, “We were three CAs running a company without a single salesperson for the first year. That works until it doesn’t.”
Strategic Shift to Gurugram and Service Diversification
A strategic move from Bengaluru to Gurugram occurred in April 2023. This decision was driven by the higher density of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and a faster pace of new incorporations in the Delhi-National Capital Region.
Joel D’Souza, Co-founder and CEO, explained the company’s mission: “We weren’t trying to disrupt anything glamorous. We just kept seeing first-time founders pay penalties for things they never knew existed. Compliance in India isn’t a tax; it’s a literacy problem.”
The Gurugram shift marked a new phase of scale. The team expanded beyond 100 employees and diversified its services to include virtual office solutions, Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration, Udyam registration, trademarks, copyrights, patents, Income Tax Return (ITR) filings, and bookkeeping.
By the close of 2025, RegisterKaro had served over 50,000 clients, consistently incorporating more than 2,500 businesses each month. The platform maintained a 4.6-star Google rating across more than 8,000 reviews, underscoring its client satisfaction.
International Expansion and Technological Innovation
In May 2024, RegisterKaro expanded its international footprint with the opening of an office in Dubai. This move aimed to cater to Indian founders expanding overseas and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) or foreign founders establishing businesses in India.
To support its rapid scaling, the company invested significantly in technology. It launched a dedicated customer portal offering features such as real-time tracking, secure document storage, and direct messaging capabilities with assigned chartered accountants and lawyers.
Further technological advancements were introduced in 2025, including an AI voice agent for client queries, automated onboarding processes, and AI-based document validation systems. These innovations substantially improved onboarding efficiency, contributing to a doubling of onboarded clients, and helped the company surpass Rs 100 crore in ARR in 2026.
Future Outlook and Market Impact
The founders identified key lessons from serving 50,000 clients, emphasizing that process efficiency is critical for scalability, and trust is paramount in client relationships. They also observed a growing wave of founders emerging from Tier II cities like Indore, Jaipur, Coimbatore, and Bhubaneswar, which now contribute a significant share of repeat business.
Education is considered an integral part of RegisterKaro’s product strategy, aimed at making compliance knowledge accessible to all users, thereby building long-term category trust. Sidharth Ravichandran, Co-founder, reiterated the company’s broader objective: “Our goal was never just to provide services. It was to build trust in a process that intimidates most first-time founders. Starting a business in India should be empowering. For too long, it has been overwhelming.”
India’s startup ecosystem continues its rapid expansion, with over 20,000 new companies added monthly and DPIIT-recognized startups exceeding 55,000 in FY26. RegisterKaro’s journey from a Koramangala apartment to a Rs 100 crore ARR platform in 2026 reflects this broader shift, where compliance is transforming from an afterthought to an essential component of business initiation.
