QAI Ventures eyes Indian quantum AI startups for investment, leveraging India’s talent and the National Quantum Mission. Expansion in Asia.

QAI Ventures, a venture capital firm headquartered in Switzerland specializing in early-stage quantum computing startups, is actively pursuing a presence in India, citing the country’s significant untapped potential in the sector.

Founded in 2023, QAI Ventures has established operations across Europe, North America, and Asia, investing in deeptech startups focused on quantum AI computing and its applications across various industries.

The firm is now exploring entry into the Indian market, emphasizing the presence of essential components required to foster a thriving ecosystem for quantum computing and AI startups.

In a conversation with YourStory, QAI Ventures Founder & CEO Alexandra Beckstein highlighted India’s strength in the availability of talent in quantum computing, coupled with the government’s National Quantum Mission, which has an investment of Rs 6,000 crore.

For QAI Ventures, a complete ecosystem includes quantum startups, academic institutions, government support, and, crucially, enterprises invested in high-end technology.

Beckstein stated, “We see India as a world-class talent pool for software. I think this is also how India is going to thrive as a software player.”

QAI Ventures aims to offer Indian quantum AI startups capital, team-building assistance, access to customers through its global network, pilot project development, and corporate partnerships.

Beckstein added, “We reduce a startup’s time towards a minimal viable product, and this also reduces the time taken for the first revenues. We are not a normal venture capital fund but an ecosystem builder.”

However, QAI Ventures emphasizes the need for corporate anchors invested in quantum AI technology to provide startups with market and customer access.

QAI Ventures is already collaborating with leading academic institutions in India. Beckstein noted, “We are looking for startups that come out of these research institutes that build not just for India but also for a global market.”

The firm plans to establish a strategically sound, high-quality setup in India, with the expertise to support startups from the pre-seed stage through growth funding.

Beckstein concluded, “We can play a role in co-developing the market alongside technology and build a deeptech startup that is rooted in India but with a global ambition.”
