PVR Inox SMART Cinemas: Expansion into Tier III Cities

PVR Inox has launched its new SMART Cinemas format, strategically targeting expansion into India’s rapidly developing Tier III cities. This initiative leverages a franchise-owned, company-operated (FOCO) model, designed for capital-efficient scaling.

The inaugural SMART Cinema is set to open in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, marking the first step into these smaller, yet commercially growing urban centers. This expansion strategy focuses on delivering a premium experience while optimizing investment.

Strategic Expansion & Features

• Six additional SMART Cinemas are already under agreement, scheduled to open within the next nine months.
• Discussions are underway with developers in other cities for further expansion opportunities.
• Each venue will feature 2K laser projection and 7.1 surround sound systems.
• Contemporary auditoriums and a curated selection of food and beverage options will also be part of the offering.

Tier III cities represent a significant growth opportunity, driven by increasing demand for organized retail and high-quality entertainment options. PVR Inox notes a consumer desire mirroring offerings found in larger metropolitan areas.
