PPFAS GIFT drastically lowers minimum investment for US S&P 500 & NASDAQ-100 funds from $5000 to $500, making global investing accessible.

If you’ve been eyeing international investments but found the entry barrier too high, PPFAS Alternate Asset Managers IFSC Private Limited (PPFAS GIFT) just made it much easier for you. They’ve slashed the minimum investment for their US-focused funds, opening up global markets.

Your New Access to Global Markets

This big change means a substantial reduction, making international funds more accessible:

  • The minimum investment amount dropped from US$5000 to just US$500.
  • This reduction is roughly equivalent to ₹4,30,777, based on current exchange rates.

PPFAS GIFT offers two main outbound passive funds located in GIFT City that let you invest directly in major US indices. These funds allow you to gain exposure without the hassle of setting up a foreign brokerage account.

The funds include:

  • The Parag Parikh IFSC S&P 500 FOF, which tracks the S&P 500 Index.
  • The Parag Parikh IFSC Nasdaq 100 Fund of Fund, tracking the NASDAQ-100 Index.

Understanding what these indices represent can help you decide where to put your money. They offer a window into different segments of the US economy.

  • The NASDAQ-100 Index focuses on the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the NASDAQ, often seen as a proxy for the US tech sector.

Important Dates and Redemption Thresholds

This new minimum investment of US$500 applies to new subscriptions, starting prospectively. A notice-cum-addendum dated August 21, 2026, details these changes.

Also, the outstanding investment threshold for the Fund Management Entity’s right to redeem units was adjusted. This threshold moved from US$1000 to US$100, also effective prospectively from the date specified by the FME.

With these changes, gaining exposure to top US companies through PPFAS GIFT’s funds is now significantly more accessible. This could be a good opportunity to diversify your investment portfolio internationally.
