PM Modi’s ‘Sapta Dhara’: India’s Roadmap to Developed Nation by 2047

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a comprehensive “Sapta Dhara” (seven streams) framework from the Red Fort on India’s Independence Day. This initiative aims to guide India’s transformation into a developed nation by the year 2047.

The ‘Sapta Dhara’ Framework for National Development

The framework emphasizes accelerating reforms and achieving self-reliance across critical sectors. It serves as a strategic roadmap for India’s long-term economic and social progress.

The first stream, **manufacturing**, urges Indian factories to prioritize cost-effectiveness, high quality, and large-scale production. This aims to meet global standards and achieve “zero-defect manufacturing.”

Secondly, **agriculture and food processing** targets expansion from domestic fields to international export markets. The focus includes promoting traditional foods, millets, spices, fruits, and chemical-free farming as global brands.

The third stream emphasizes **technology and innovation**, advocating for India to become an innovation hub. This involves developing emerging technologies such as space, quantum, and robotics, alongside extending “Made in India 6G” globally.

**Logistics** forms the fourth stream, highlighting the necessity for high-speed railways, modal highways, inland waterways, and multi-modal logistics. This initiative operates under the Gati Shakti framework, with a specific focus on port-led development.

The fifth stream addresses **defence**, stressing the imperative for self-reliance in developing drones and hyper-sonic technologies. It also aims to enhance cybersecurity through youth engagement.

The **green and blue economy** constitutes the sixth stream, targeting green mobility and manufacturing. This initiative seeks to offer solutions to global warming and leverage opportunities in coastal tourism and fisheries.

Finally, the seventh stream is **soft power**, encompassing the promotion of Yoga and holistic healthcare through “Heal in India.” It also involves showcasing India’s creative flair in films, gaming, and the arts, while attracting global tourists to national parks and fostering the concert economy.
