PM Modi: India’s Big Dreams & Economic Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation from the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, called upon Indians to “dream big” and “pledge big.” He underscored that national goals are achieved through collective dreams, resolve, and capabilities.

Modi asserted that India’s transformation into a developed nation will undoubtedly capture global attention. He highlighted the significant economic and industrial strides made by the country over the past 12 years, moving from being part of the “Fragile Five” to becoming the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

India’s Industrial and Digital Leap

This substantial progress, the Prime Minister noted, has been powered by the collective efforts of 140 crore citizens. The nation has seen remarkable expansion across various sectors.

• Defence production experienced a nearly fourfold increase.
• The khadi and village industries sector saw a fivefold rise.
• Electronics manufacturing expanded sevenfold.
• Modern railway coach production grew 21 times.
• Mobile phone production surged 33 times.
• Digital transactions increased an impressive 100-fold.

Strategic Focus on Energy and Technology

The Prime Minister also articulated a clear vision for enhanced energy security and greater nuclear power capacity. He specifically mentioned India’s mastery of fast breeder nuclear technology as a crucial step towards achieving self-reliance in nuclear fuel.

Looking ahead, Modi projected the establishment of five to seven new semiconductor plants in India over the next seven to eight years. He emphasized that progress is often limited by thinking rather than by available resources, stressing the importance of expanding national ambitions and recognizing inherent capabilities.

Modi extended solidarity to those impacted by recent floods and landslides across the country. He also acknowledged the historic significance of “Vande Mataram” being heard at the Red Fort on August 15, marking 150 years of the iconic song.
