The Plastindia Foundation, a pivotal organization for the Indian plastics industry, has officially inaugurated its new Regional Office in New Delhi. This strategic establishment aims to enhance collaboration among industry stakeholders, government bodies, and academic institutions.
The office will serve as a central hub for critical functions, laying out a clear path for the sector’s advancement.
Strategic Objectives and Leadership
Under the leadership of Plastindia Foundation President Mr. Ravish Kamath, the New Delhi office will provide a dedicated platform for engaging with stakeholders. It will actively represent industry interests and form strategic alliances with government entities, educational institutions, and other industry associations.
Its core objectives include:
Promoting innovation across the plastics value chain.
Supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Facilitating crucial industry-academia partnerships.
Enhancing capacity across the entire sector.
Nationwide Reach and Environmental Focus
The inauguration ceremony, marked by a traditional puja, was led by Dr. Raju Desai, Vice President, and Mr. Dharmendra Gandhi, Honorary Treasurer of the Plastindia Foundation. Though located in the national capital, the Regional Office is envisioned as a pan-India initiative.
This office aims to strengthen policy outreach and encourage both regional and national collaboration. It will contribute to practical solutions for environmental and sustainability challenges, with a particular focus on the Delhi-NCR region.
Driving Sustainability and Skill Development
The Plastindia Foundation represents the entire plastics value chain through its seven Founder Associations and two Constituent Associations. Beyond organizing the renowned PLASTINDIA Exhibition, the Foundation actively collaborates with the Government of India and other stakeholders.
These collaborations advocate for several key outcomes:
Promoting environmental responsibility and circular economy initiatives.
Encouraging plastics recycling and overall sustainability.
Facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies to transform the industry.
A key objective is to cultivate a skilled workforce through its Plastindia International University (PIU) initiative. This program aims to bridge existing skill gaps and produce industry-ready professionals for the sector.
Key Partnerships and Vision
The strong partnership between industry and government is reinforced by the involvement of key organizations. The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) and the Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) serve as Founder Members.
These partnerships bolster the Foundation’s efforts in education, research, technology development, export promotion, innovation, and policy support for the Indian plastics industry. This collective effort is expected to significantly improve the competitiveness of the Indian plastics industry and align with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
