OpenAI Revenue Chief Departs Amid IPO Plans
By Business Desk
OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, Denise Dresser, exits after 8 months. Second senior departure as AI firm gears up for a potential IPO.
OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, Denise Dresser, is departing the company following an eight-month tenure. This marks the second significant senior executive exit within days, occurring as the artificial intelligence firm actively prepares for a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Dresser, who joined OpenAI in December after over a decade at Salesforce, was primarily focused on expanding the company’s crucial enterprise business. Dali Rajic, formerly president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity firm Wiz, has been named her successor, with Dresser staying on briefly to ensure a smooth transition.
Leadership Shifts Amid IPO Push
These leadership changes come after Brad Lightcap announced his departure, set for August 11, 2026. Additionally, Fidji Simo, who served as the product and business chief, along with three additional executives, also left the company in April.
The executive movements coincide with OpenAI’s confidential filing of its IPO prospectus with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in June. This action followed a similar filing by rival Anthropic, highlighting a pivotal moment for both AI firms.
OpenAI’s enterprise business has been a key growth driver. CFO Sarah Friar stated it accounted for 40% of the company’s business in January and was projected to reach 50% by year-end. The company secured a funding round in March, valuing it at $852 billion, further fueling expectations for its public market debut.
