NLC India plans to list its subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited, in an IPO valued at ₹4,000 crore, aiming to hit 6 GW renewable capacity by 2030.

NLC India is fast-tracking its green energy transition by preparing to list its subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited, in a public offering projected for FY27. The company aims to raise a substantial ₹4,000 crore through this IPO.

The Breakdown of the Deal

The restructuring process involves shifting core green assets to create a pure-play entity. Key details from the move include:

  • Target IPO proceeds: ₹4,000 crore
  • Transfer volume: 708.96 MW of renewable assets
  • Asset net worth: ₹925.08 crore as of March 31, 2026
  • Listing timeline: FY27

Strategic Asset Consolidation

On September 3, 2026, the company signed an addendum to transfer these assets as a slump sale at book value. This move effectively cleans up the balance sheet for the subsidiary, NIRL, positioning it as an attractive prospect for ESG-focused investors.

Growth and Future Targets

The parent entity is aggressively pursuing a target of 6 GW in total renewable capacity by 2030. Management expects these green assets to eventually represent 50% of the total generation mix.

Recent Project Wins

To bolster its portfolio, the company has secured several high-profile projects:

  • Battery storage: 275 MW / 550 MWh project in Gujarat
  • Wind power: 200 MW project in Karnataka
  • Total FY27 Capex: ₹23,600 crore

While Q1 FY27 net profits saw a decline due to high-base effects, the massive capital expenditure plan signals strong conviction in the firm’s transition. By spinning off its green arm, NLC India is clearly looking to unlock significant shareholder value from its renewable operations.
