Union Minister & MP CM launch 4 new flight routes from Bhopal, significantly boosting regional air travel and economic activity in Madhya Pradesh.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav jointly inaugurated four new flight services from Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal. This strategic expansion aims to significantly enhance air connectivity across the region, linking key cities and fostering economic activity.

Expanding Regional Air Access

The newly introduced direct air services include critical routes such as Bhopal-Rewa, Bhopal-Patna, Rewa-Kolkata, and Jabalpur-Kolkata. These routes are specifically designed to strengthen intra-state connectivity, particularly between the capital city of Bhopal and the Vindhya region.

Moreover, the initiatives establish a direct link between Madhya Pradesh’s capital and Bihar’s capital, Patna. Direct flights connecting Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata will also improve access to East India for these two important cities.

Policy Support for Aviation Growth

These flight services will be operated by Alliance Air, a crucial player in regional aviation. The operations receive substantial financial assistance from the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy, underscoring the state’s commitment to air travel infrastructure.

Under this policy, the state government provides Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to Rs 10 lakh per round trip. This funding mechanism helps ensure the commercial viability of routes that might otherwise be less attractive for airlines, thereby encouraging broader connectivity.

Broader Connectivity Initiatives

The expansion is expected to greatly facilitate movement for travelers, traders, and businessmen. A significant population of Bihar residents in Madhya Pradesh stands to benefit directly from the improved connectivity with Patna.

Overall, eight new air routes have been approved under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy. With the commencement of these four services, they complement previously launched routes including Rewa-Delhi, Rewa-Indore, Rewa-Raipur, and Indore-Abu Dhabi, further integrating the region into national and international air networks.
