Fintech firm Navi, co-founded by Sachin Bansal, gears up for an Indian IPO, targeting a $2 billion valuation and aiming to raise up to $314 million.

Navi, the fintech company founded by former Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal, is reportedly preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in India. The firm aims to raise as much as Rs30bn ($314m) and is targeting a valuation of up to $2bn.

To manage this share sale, Navi has appointed prominent financial institutions. These include JM Financial, Kotak Mahindra Capital, Goldman Sachs Group, and JPMorgan & Chase & Co. as advisors.

Navi’s Financial Targets

The upcoming listing is anticipated to consist solely of a primary issue, meaning there will be no secondary sale of shares by existing investors. Final fundraising size, valuation, and the timeline remain subject to potential revisions as discussions are ongoing.

  • Targeted fundraising: Rs30bn ($314m)
  • Expected valuation: Up to $2bn

Prior IPO Attempt and Market Conditions

Navi previously submitted a draft prospectus for an IPO aiming for up to Rs33.5bn in March 2022. The company secured regulatory clearance by September of the same year.

However, Navi decided to postpone that transaction, citing a decline in investor sentiment. This sentiment was influenced by both domestic and global economic pressures at the time.

Diversified Financial Offerings

The group offers a diverse range of financial services to its customers. These services encompass lending, mutual funds, health insurance, and UPI payments.

Sachin Bansal established Navi in 2018, following his departure from Flipkart. This occurred after Walmart Inc.’s $16bn acquisition of the Indian e-commerce business.

Broader Fintech Listing Trend

Navi’s move aligns with a broader trend among Indian financial services companies exploring stock market listings. Several other firms are also reportedly considering IPOs in the coming months.

These include Muthoot Fincorp, Truhome Finance, InCred Holdings, Moneyview, and Hero FinCorp, indicating a potential wave of financial services IPOs.
