Molbio Diagnostics successfully secured ₹281.5 crore from anchor investors. This crucial funding round takes place ahead of its larger ₹940 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Key Anchor Investor Participation

Notable global and domestic institutions participated in this anchor allocation. These included major players from the financial sector.

The IFC’s investment, totaling ₹20 crore, marks a significant return. It is the World Bank Group’s private-sector investment arm’s first foray into India’s mainboard IPO market in five years. Their last participation was with Dodla Dairy in June 2021.

Anchor Share Distribution

The anchor allocation involved a substantial distribution of equity shares. A total of 34.87 lakh shares were spread across numerous investors.

Proceeds from the fresh issue are primarily aimed at capital expenditure. This includes establishing an R&D facility and a Centre of Excellence. Additionally, funds will cover purchasing equipment for its Goa and Visakhapatnam units.

Several brokerages, including SBI Securities and Swastika Investmart, have recommended subscribing to the IPO. They cited Molbio’s strong growth prospects in molecular diagnostics, its scalable business model, and reasonable valuation compared to industry peers.
