Mekr Raises ₹67 Cr Series A for Electronics Manufacturing Growth

Key Highlights

Electronics manufacturing platform Mekr secures ₹67 Cr in Series A funding led by Avaana Capital. Funds to boost R&D, global expansion, and automation.

Mekr Secures Significant Series A Funding to Drive Innovation

Electronics manufacturing platform Mekr has successfully closed its Series A funding round, securing ₹67 Crore (approximately $7 million USD). The round was spearheaded by Avaana Capital, with additional investment from Titan Capital Winners Fund. This substantial capital infusion is earmarked for critical investments in research and development (R&D), bolstering product engineering capabilities, enhancing proprietary tooling, and fostering supplier localization efforts. A portion of the funds will also be allocated to scaling manufacturing automation, refining quality assurance systems, and strengthening the company’s readiness for international market expansion.

Founding Vision and Operational Model of Mekr

Established in 2022 by Anand Yadav and Gaurang Kuchhal, Mekr operates as an Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) specializing in a diverse range of electronic products. Its portfolio includes consumer electronics such as electric kettles, hair dryers, body weighing scales, vacuum cleaners, and tire inflators. The company leverages a sophisticated digital manufacturing platform designed to streamline the entire product lifecycle for its clients. This platform manages critical aspects from sourcing and component procurement to assembly and end-to-end supply chain management, offering a comprehensive solution for electronic product manufacturing.

Technological Capabilities and Market Presence

Mekr boasts extensive capacities and advanced capabilities across various manufacturing domains, including Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, and general sourcing. The startup strategically employs cutting-edge technologies such as Brushless DC (BLDC) motor systems, precision gear mechanisms, advanced heating systems, load cell technology, and in-house mold design expertise. These technological foundations enable Mekr to deliver high-quality end-products. Headquartered in Delhi NCR, with its primary manufacturing facility located in Sonipat, Haryana, Mekr has successfully developed over 100 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) and forged partnerships with more than 40 brands, including prominent names like Amazon Basics, Croma, Flipkart, and Wipro.

Strategic Investment and Sector Growth

This latest funding round follows a previous seed investment of ₹5.8 Crore raised in 2022 from investors including Better Capital, Titan Capital, and 2AM VC. Mekr operates within India’s rapidly expanding electronics market, a sector projected to exceed $400 billion by 2030. The significant growth potential of this industry is attracting substantial investor interest, leading to increased backing for startups in the electronics manufacturing space. For instance, electronic systems manufacturer Bacancy Systems recently raised ₹40 Crore ($4.2 million) in its Series A round. Furthermore, the Indian government, through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), continues to support the sector by approving projects under schemes like the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), fostering domestic production and investment.
