Madhya Pradesh attracts over ₹10 lakh crore in investments through significant policy reforms, reduced red tape, and faster land acquisition, boosting ease of doing business.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state has attracted investments exceeding ₹10 lakh crore over the past two years. This significant inflow is attributed to the state’s strategic enhancements in its ease of doing business environment.

Reforms Driving Investment Growth

The Chief Minister highlighted these achievements at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, detailing the government’s comprehensive strategic reforms. These initiatives were designed to simplify processes and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for investors.

Key policy changes included eliminating over 900 redundant laws and 2,700 unnecessary circulars. The state also dramatically reduced land acquisition time, cutting it from 69 days to just 29 days.

Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh provided timely subsidies totaling approximately ₹5,500 crore to investors via direct benefit transfers. These measures have substantially boosted investor confidence and are part of a broader blueprint for holistic district development.

The state is actively focusing on emerging sectors and establishing industrial clusters to support this growth. This strategic approach aims to foster a more dynamic economic landscape.

Strategic Industrial Development and Export Focus

Madhya Pradesh is developing subject and sector-wise industrial clusters across diverse domains. These include energy, telecom, defence, education, and health, catering to various industrial needs.

To facilitate this expansion, over 340 industrial belts are being established, supported by a significant land bank exceeding 1 lakh acres. A consistent supply of surplus electricity also meets industrial demands across the state.

The government offers a labor subsidy of ₹5,000 per worker to encourage manufacturing activities within these new industrial zones. In less than two years, 24 new policies have been introduced specifically to foster industrial development.

Efforts are also concentrated on boosting the state’s export capabilities, moving beyond its traditional agriculture-dependent economy. Currently, 37 out of 55 districts are shipping products overseas.

An ambitious target aims to expand export activities to all 55 districts within 1.5 years. Annual exports from Madhya Pradesh currently exceed ₹88,000 crore.

Key Economic Indicators and Future Vision

The state is further prioritizing sectors like energy, telecom, defence, fisheries, and milk production to enhance output and export volumes. This diversified approach supports sustained economic growth.

Madhya Pradesh’s total energy capacity stands at 31 GW, with 30% of this capacity derived from green sources. The state aims to significantly increase green energy contribution to 50%, aligning with sustainable development goals.

Chief Minister Yadav outlined an ambitious vision for a developed state, targeting a substantial increase in per person income by 2047. This includes a projected per person income of ₹22.5 lakh, a significant rise from the current ₹1.69 lakh.

Infrastructure development has seen considerable progress, with medical colleges increasing to 49 and state universities expanding to 73. Additionally, five new or upgraded airports are operational, with five more planned for future development.

These strategic investments and policy reforms position Madhya Pradesh as a key contributor to the ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 initiative. The state’s consistent focus on infrastructure and ease of business is expected to sustain its trajectory of economic expansion and competitive federalism.
