By ThePip DeskKPI Green Energy Expands Bharuch Hybrid Power Project

KPI Green Energy adds 130 MW solar capacity to its Bharuch hybrid project, boosting cumulative output to 269.7 MW AC and enhancing earnings visibility.

KPI Green Energy has significantly expanded its 370 MW AC / 677 MW DC Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project in Bharuch, Gujarat. The company successfully energized an additional 130 MW AC / 195 MW DC of solar capacity under this Independent Power Producer (IPP) initiative, marking a crucial development for its renewable energy portfolio.

This latest commissioning builds on previous efforts, pushing the project’s operational output higher. It underscores KPI Green Energy’s strategic focus on sustainable energy deployment and its commitment to long-term power generation goals within the region.

Key Capacity Milestones

  • New Solar Capacity Energized: 130 MW AC / 195 MW DC
  • Cumulative Capacity Energized (Wind-Solar Hybrid IPP Project): 269.7 MW AC / 389.7 MW DC
  • Total Project Target Capacity: 370 MW AC / 677 MW DC

The entire project operates as an Independent Power Producer under a vital long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). This contractual framework is foundational, designed to ensure stable, annuity-based revenue streams for KPI Green Energy.

KPI Green Energy, known for its ‘Solarism’ brand, functions as both an IPP and a service provider to Captive Power Producer (CPP) customers. This dual approach to solar power generation is central to the company’s business model and overall market positioning.

Expanding the IPP portfolio is a core component of the company’s broader corporate strategy, aligning with its efforts to simultaneously scale its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) business. This progressive energization of capacity directly enhances earnings visibility, a critical factor for investors, and creates sustained long-term value for its stakeholders, including its parent KP Group.
