Behind the Numbers

This operational hurdle comes as IndiGo navigates a challenging financial period. The airline recently reported its performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27.

For the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, IndiGo reported a consolidated loss of Rs 238 crore.

This contrasts sharply with a net profit of Rs 20,496 crore during the same period last year.

Despite the loss, revenue climbed by 20%, reaching Rs 24,584 crore.

However, the company’s Ebitda saw a significant 37% decline, settling at Rs 3,267 crore.

IndiGo, despite these challenges, maintains its robust position as India’s largest airline, holding close to a 60% market share.

The current booking issues add another layer of complexity for the airline, even as it continues to dominate the Indian aviation market.
