By Business DeskIndia’s IPO Market: 49 Drafts Signal Strong Issuer Confidence

Despite a Q1 FY27 slowdown, India’s IPO market pipeline remains strong with 49 draft offer documents, indicating sustained issuer confidence and robust capital market fundraising.

India’s initial public offering (IPO) market maintains a robust pipeline with 49 draft offer documents currently under processing, signaling sustained issuer interest despite a moderation in listing activity during the first quarter of FY27.

Mainboard and SME IPO activity experienced a moderation due to global uncertainties, according to an NSE report. The mainboard segment recorded eight IPO listings in Q1 FY27, a drop from 15 in the previous quarter. The SME platform saw 14 listings, down from 17.

There was also a notable change in average issue sizes across segments. The average mainboard IPO size in Q1 FY27 was approximately Rs 585 crore, significantly lower than Rs 1,603 crore in FY26. Conversely, the average SME IPO size increased to Rs 70 crore from Rs 48 crore during the same period.

Record Fund Mobilization in June 2026

Despite the moderation in IPO issuances, broader capital markets demonstrated robust fundraising. Total fund mobilization reached a record monthly high of Rs 3.15 lakh crore in June 2026. This marked a 122 percent month-on-month increase, primarily driven by debt issuances.

Commercial paper issuances more than doubled to Rs 1.9 lakh crore. Private non-convertible debenture (NCD) issuances also rose to Rs 69,700 crore, reflecting strong corporate funding demand.

Sectoral Dominance in Fundraising

Industrials and Financials were the dominant sectors for mainboard IPO fundraising in FY27. They accounted for 40.2 percent and 38.7 percent, respectively.

On the SME platform, Healthcare led with 30.4 percent of fundraising, followed closely by Consumer Discretionary at 28.2 percent.

The continued healthy pipeline of draft filings and robust capital-raising efforts underscore ongoing confidence in India’s capital markets from both issuers and investors.
