Sectoral and Stage-Specific Funding Trends
E-commerce emerged as the most funded segment this week, attracting over $21.4 million across four startups, largely driven by Fairdeal.Market’s substantial Series A round. This underscores the robust investor confidence in India’s digital commerce landscape.
Advanced Hardware & Technology followed, seeing the second-highest number of deals, with three startups in the sector collectively raising over $2.4 million. This indicates a growing appetite for innovation in physical technologies and infrastructure.
Conversely, seed-stage funding experienced a notable contraction, shrinking to $1.6 million across three deals. This represents a 78% decline from the $7.6 million secured by startups at this stage in the preceding week, suggesting a more cautious approach to early-stage investments.
New Fund Launches and Closures
The week also saw significant developments in the venture capital landscape. Ashish Kumar, co-founder of Fundamentum, launched Fundamentum Frontier Advisors (F2A), a new private investment platform. F2A established a VC fund of ₹2,000 crore dedicated to investing in deeptech and AI startups, complemented by ₹1,000 crore in co-investments managed through an offshore vehicle.
Growth-stage VC firm Physis Capital announced the final close of its maiden fund at ₹400 crore. This fund is poised to back Pre-Series A to Series B stage startups across various sectors, with an average ticket size ranging from $1 million to $3 million, aiming to support scaling businesses.
Additionally, Himalaya Wealth Managers introduced Himalaya SME Scheme-I, a new SEBI-registered Category I AIF with a corpus of ₹500 crore. This fund is designed to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in strategic sectors such as aerospace and defense, industrial automation, healthcare and life sciences, agritech and food processing, electronics and semiconductors, renewable energy, and electric vehicles.
