Indian startups secured $209.1 million across 14 deals in the fourth week of July (July 18-24), marking a 26% drop from the previous week’s funding total. This figure was largely driven by four rounds each exceeding $40 million.
Key Funding Figures
- Total Funding: $209.1 million
- Number of Deals: 14
- Weekly Funding Decrease: 26%
- Zetwerk Pre-IPO Round: $52 million
- Veriqus Funding: $40.1 million
- BUSINESSNEXT Series C: $40 million

Enterprise Services led the week’s sectors, primarily boosted by Zetwerk’s $52 million pre-IPO round, which alone accounted for approximately 25% of the total. The Enterprisetech sector followed, securing $50 million through two deals, including BUSINESSNEXT’s significant Series C contribution. In stark contrast, the AI sector saw minimal activity, with FireAI raising only $259K in a single deal.
Early-stage investments remained modest, with three seed-stage startups collectively raising about $1.8 million, led by Bioscan Research’s $1 million round. Three Series A rounds contributed $31.7 million to the week’s total. Norwest and Rukam Capital were identified as key active investors during this period.
IPO Pipeline & Capital Moves
- Edtech startup Klassroom announced an SME IPO with a price band of ₹151-159 per share, aiming to raise ₹39 crore at a valuation of ₹148.1 crore.
- SoftBank-backed adtech unicorn InMobi reportedly engaged investment banks for its anticipated $1 billion IPO.
- Ather Energy successfully raised approximately ₹1,300 crore through a qualified institutional placement, part of a larger ₹2,500 crore capital raise.
- Transition VC launched its second fund, targeting ₹1,500 crore to support engineering-led startups in energy transition, advanced manufacturing, and industrial deeptech.
- Fintech SaaS company Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services approved a strategic investment of up to ₹7.97 crore in Unobanc.
The observed slowdown in venture capital for the week highlights a cautious funding environment, particularly for early-stage and niche sectors like AI. Despite this, significant capital continues to flow into established players and critical infrastructure, as evidenced by large rounds and strategic investments. The coming weeks will show if this trend persists or if a rebound is on the horizon.
