The Railway Board, operating under the Ministry of Railways, has recommended the premature retirement of five Group ‘A’ officers. This significant decision was made in the public interest, referencing Rule 1802(a) of the Indian Railway Establishment Code, Volume II, which aligns with Rule 56(j) of the Fundamental Rules.
Officers Affected by the Recommendation
The recommendation impacts five officials across various railway services and grades. This includes two Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) officers from the Indian Railway Health Service (IRHS).
Additionally, one Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) officer from the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) in Northern Railway is affected. Another officer from the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) in Northern Railway and one JAG officer from the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in Western Railway are also part of this group.

Key areas reviewed included Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) and detailed assessments of officer integrity. Furthermore, vigilance reports and past disciplinary histories formed crucial parts of the scrutiny.
These committees reached a unanimous decision, determining that premature retirement was justified in the public interest for each specific case.
