IndiaMART InterMESH, a prominent B2B e-commerce platform, has announced a significant downturn in its financial performance, with net profit for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026 plummeting by 72.2% year-on-year. The company reported a net profit of ₹50.2 crore, a considerable decrease from ₹180.6 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, the net profit saw a 73.3% decline from ₹188.3 crore in the previous quarter.
Despite the profit slump, IndiaMART’s operating revenue experienced a modest increase of 13.8% year-on-year and 0.7% quarter-on-quarter, reaching ₹404.3 crore during the quarter. However, the company registered a loss of ₹33.9 crore in its other income segment, bringing its total income for the quarter to ₹370.4 crore. Total expenses for the quarter rose by 19% year-on-year to ₹279.3 crore.
This financial performance for IndiaMART stands in stark contrast to the robust growth reported by global e-commerce giant Amazon. Amazon’s profits surged by 77% to $30.3 billion, largely propelled by its Amazon Web Services (AWS) division, which contributes approximately 60% of its earnings. The company is making substantial investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is witnessing strong demand for its cloud services, bolstered by the increasing adoption of AI-related technologies and advancements in chip technology.
Furthermore, Amazon is actively enhancing its operational footprint in India, with a strategic focus on expanding its ultra-fast delivery services. This move signals a concerted effort by the e-commerce leader to strengthen its presence and offerings within the Indian market.
