India’s OOH Advertising: 3D & DOOH Drive Engagement
By Business Desk
Indian brands are ditching static billboards for captivating 3D and DOOH campaigns, boosting consumer engagement and social buzz in urban markets.
India’s outdoor advertising landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, with brands increasingly moving beyond traditional static billboards to embrace immersive 3D and digital out-of-home (DOOH) experiences. This strategic shift aims to capture consumer attention and foster engagement, generating substantial social media buzz within increasingly competitive urban environments.
Companies like Orient Electric have utilized functional fan billboards, while Kelvinator created ice-themed 3D displays. Godrej Properties showcased an architectural façade illusion, directly integrating products or creating striking visual effects within the advertising space. These innovative executions reflect a broader industry trend toward more dynamic and memorable campaigns.
The Strategic Shift Towards Experience
Industry leaders confirm this evolution signifies a strategic pivot from mere visibility to crafting memorable brand experiences. Shantiswarup Panda of Indriya, Aditya Birla Jewellery, noted that 3D hoardings enhance memorability and spark organic conversations among consumers. This focus on engagement marks a clear departure from older advertising paradigms.
Atul Shrivastava from Laqshya Media Group has observed a steady rise in demand for innovative billboard executions across diverse sectors. Investment for 3D-DOOH installations can range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 50 lakh per month, while premium digital billboards typically cost Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh monthly, depending on location and size. Balwant Mehra of Global Media Marketing and Communications highlighted that premium digital sites command significantly higher rentals, underscoring advertisers’ readiness to invest in more engaging media formats.
Future Outlook and Amplification
Future growth in 3D OOH is anticipated to extend beyond major metropolitan areas, with brands exploring transit environments such as Metro stations and bus shelters. Rajesh Radhakrishnan of Vritti iMedia emphasized the value of 3D OOH in delivering high recall, social amplification, and effectively communicating brand innovation. These advanced techniques are crucial for cutting through the visual clutter.
Chirag Divakaran of Orange and Teal added that these installations are vital for overcoming visual fatigue in billboard-heavy cities. They introduce genuinely new experiences in evolving markets, strategically addressing consumers who are increasingly desensitized to conventional advertising. The continued investment reflects a clear understanding of modern consumer interaction.
