By Market Desk
India’s IPO market rebounds with a 25% average listing gain in July-August. 18 out of 22 offerings saw positive returns, signaling a strong investor sentiment.
India’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) market delivered an average 25% listing gain across July and August, marking a significant rebound after more than a year of subdued performance.
Of the 22 IPOs launched during this two-month period, 18 achieved positive returns on their debut day, indicating an 82% success rate for investors.
Key Listing Performances
- Average listing-day gain (July-August): 25%
- IPOs with positive debut returns: 18 of 22
- Behari Lal Engineering listing gain: 76%
- Indo MIM listing surge: nearly 53%
- Shiprocket listing rise: about 48%
This 25% average gain significantly surpasses the 7% average listing gains recorded in Q1FY27 (April-June quarter). It also contrasts sharply with the average 2% listing day discount seen in the January-March quarter of FY26.
The first quarter of FY27 had a lackluster primary market, with listing day returns ranging from a negative 17% to a positive 29%. Advit Jewels and CMR Green Technologies were noted as top gainers within that period.
Driving Factors Behind the Surge
Narendra Solanki, Head of Fundamental Research on Investment Services at Anand Rathi Shares and Stock Brokers, attributes the robust response to several factors.
- High growth prospects
- Favorable sectoral trends
- Unique product offerings
- Fair valuations with clear revenue visibility
Solanki highlighted that a strong business model, future growth potential, return ratios, and appropriate valuations are crucial for IPO success.
Outlook for India’s Primary Market
Market sentiment has improved considerably since the beginning of the year, according to Solanki. The positive momentum in India’s primary market is expected to continue.
This outlook is further supported by anticipated major IPOs from entities like NSE and Jio, which are on the horizon.
