India’s Exports to FTA Partners Soar Over 100% in Q1 FY27

India’s exports to FTA partners, notably Singapore and Sri Lanka, more than doubled in Q1 FY27, showing robust growth driven by strategic trade agreements.
India’s exports to its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partner countries demonstrated significant growth in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27. Commerce ministry data reveals that outbound shipments to key nations like Singapore and Sri Lanka more than doubled during this period.
Key Export Growth Highlights (April-June 2026)
- Exports to Singapore surged by 101.2 per cent, reaching $6.52 billion from $3.24 billion in the previous year.
- Shipments to Sri Lanka experienced an even higher increase of 123.8 per cent, rising to $2.35 billion from $1.05 billion.
Beyond individual nations, regional blocs also showed strong performance, underscoring the broad impact of these trade agreements. The ASEAN region and the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) both recorded substantial increases in Indian exports.
Regional and Partner Performance
- Exports to the ASEAN region grew by 61.6 per cent, totaling $14.61 billion compared to $9.04 billion in April-June 2025-26.
- The SAFTA region saw exports rise by 36.6 per cent, reaching $8.40 billion from $6.15 billion.
- Malaysia recorded a 75.2 per cent increase in outbound shipments, reaching $2.54 billion.
- Exports to Australia grew by 25.2 per cent to $2.68 billion during April-June 2026-27.
- Shipments to the UK rose by 11.1 per cent to $3.69 billion, following the operationalization of the India-UK trade agreement on July 15, 2026.
- Other notable increases included South Korea (22.6 per cent to $1.95 billion), Japan (22.4 per cent to $1.75 billion), and Oman (26.4 per cent to $1.39 billion).
These robust figures from FTA partners significantly contributed to India’s overall export momentum during the quarter. The nation’s total exports for April-June this fiscal year increased by 15.92 per cent.
