India’s data centre industry is poised to attract over $200 billion in investments, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. This projection comes as the nation recorded 7.8 per cent economic growth in the April-June quarter.
Economic Resilience Demonstrated
Minister Goyal highlighted India’s robust economic performance, citing the 7.8 per cent growth achieved during the April-June quarter. He underscored that this growth occurred despite a backdrop of global conflicts, widespread uncertainty, and volatility.
The significant figures include 7.8 per cent economic growth in the April-June quarter and a projected investment exceeding $200 billion for the data centre sector.
India as a Global Data Hub
Speaking to media after a roundtable with industry stakeholders, Goyal affirmed India’s strong position to emerge as a major global hub for data centres. He expressed immense pride in the people of India for their contributions during challenging times.
Goyal stated, “We are proud of the people of India who even in these very unnerving and difficult times with two wars raging on, global uncertainty and volatility have given India 7.8 per cent growth in the quarter April to June 26.”
