India’s coconut product exports soared by 62% to Rs 7,038.35 crore in FY26, driven by strong global demand, showcasing significant growth in the agricultural export sector.

India’s coconut product exports demonstrated a substantial surge, reaching Rs 7,038.35 crore (USD 794.70 million) in fiscal year 2025-26. This represents a significant 62 percent increase from the prior fiscal period, driven by robust global demand.

Total exports for FY26 stood at Rs 7,038.35 crore.

This translates to USD 794.70 million.

The increase marks a 62 percent rise year-over-year.

Previous year’s exports were Rs 4,349.03 crore.

A recent government update underscored the coconut sector’s increasing strategic importance within India’s agricultural export landscape. The notable growth highlights a strong and expanding international appetite for Indian-origin coconut products.

Historical Growth Trajectory

This current performance reflects considerable progress since the fiscal year 2001-02, when the nation’s coconut exports were comparatively modest. Back then, the market primarily consisted of traditional items, indicating a significant diversification and expansion in recent decades.

Exports in 2001-02 were only Rs 25.3 crore.

Initial exports focused on coconut shell charcoal, coconut oil, and desiccated coconut.

The sustained upward trajectory in export figures signals a maturing and globally competitive Indian coconut industry. This trend suggests continued opportunities for growth as international demand for these agricultural commodities persists.
