India’s Assam Highway Boosts Economy, Strengthens UK Ties

The Union Cabinet has approved a significant Rs 8,970 crore four-lane expressway project on NH-15 in Assam, marking a substantial push for infrastructure development across the region. This new access-controlled highway aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate economic growth.

The project involves constructing 135.871 km of highway, connecting Baihata Chariali near Guwahati to Tezpur. This strategic route is designed to improve access to vital economic, social, and logistics hubs within Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Concurrently, India has also reinforced its economic ties with the United Kingdom through the 12th Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD), held recently in London. This high-level meeting underscores ongoing bilateral cooperation.

India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, and UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, co-chaired the dialogue. Their discussions covered a broad spectrum of topics aimed at deepening the economic partnership between the two nations.
